What Is The Difference Between A Pb And Sliming?

Recommended Posts

I am about two months post op and had my first really bad stuck episode today. I know it was because I ate too quickly. I know PB is a productive burb but what is sliming?

Also, how bad is it that pretty much what I ate came back up (not violently) but it did?

Thanks in advance and thank you for all the great discussions on this forum. This is my first post, but I have been following the boards since my lapband surgery in September and it has been very helpful!

Hi Miss,

Sliming is the body's normal response to clearing objects that are stuck in the esophagus, It's basically mucous production that is supposed to cling onto the object and pass it down into the stomach. Unfortunately, this happens when food is stuck in the stoma and is not passing. The slime is ineffective at this time and only causes built up pressure behind the blocked food. This results in regurgitation (not vomiting) like you experienced. Regurg is not harmful to the band, only vomiting.
