Everything I Eat Or Drink Hurts

Recommended Posts

I am 12 days post op and really haven't had any problems with liquids. As of yesterday everything I eat or drink hurts.

My 2 week check up is Tuesday. I hope I can hang on until then. Anybody else have this problem?

Omg! I feel you. One day I'm doing great and the next everything hurts. I felt great coming off the surgery and the day I got home, I couldn't drink anything. I don't know if it's the process of healing or our bodies going through the stress of the surgery, but some days I feel like a yo-yo.

I read that the swelling in your stomach can got up and down for up to 6 months. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the cause.

Hope it gets better soon!

Same thing- sooo frustrating! I just start to feel kind of normal and then- WHAM! I'm exhausted or it hurts to eat and drink or I just feel lousy. I heard the same thing as sapMegan, this can go on for up to six months. Ugh!

At 4 weeks, I started having this roaming stomache that's just shy of nausea. Been going on for a week. Worst is when I drink Water, but I can eat fine and drink Protein. Glad to hear that others have similar strange phenomena (not glad you hurt, but it helps me feel a little more normal). Only thing that's really helped is very small doses of nausea med. lets all hang in there--it's only temporary.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
