Anyone Has Advice?

Recommended Posts

Today I am 5 days out and first day I have felt hungry. Takes me lil while but I'm getting Protein Shake down in am then some broth and popcicle for lunch and then dinner I do 2nd Protein shake. I'm able get my protein in so very happy. I'm on full liquid right now but curious if anyone at this stage is hungry at all and what they do? It isn't head hunger because my tummy is growling and doesn't stop till I feed it lol. Any advice? My calorie intake went from 350 couple days ago to 580/600.

Yes :) it sounds like you are doing everything right.. Are you taking a ppi? Acid in these early stages mimics hunger.

first day I have felt hungry

sissy

getting all your Protein in???? :o

woo hoo!!!! :)

it is common not to get that full feeling when you are only on liquids

once you primarily start eating soft foods/solids - your restriction will "kick in" :)

protein, Protein and then protein :)

very important to drink as much as possible :)

until you start "sloshing" around!!!

keep up the good work :)

continued success :)

good luck

I was very hungry almost immediately after surgery. The first week you're taking in only liquids, and they dont stay in your sleeve very long. It reminded me of a newborn baby. I'd get very hungry, drink a little bit of Protein shake or broth or Jello, and be full for an hour or 2. Then I'd be hungry again. When you're only taking liquids, the pyloric valve of the stomach doesn't close to keep them in, so any liquids pass through out of your sleeve fairly quickly. Once you are able to take in more substantial foods (scrambled eggs!) you will feel fuller for longer. In that stage I just ate frequently as I was hungry. Once I understood about the liquids/ solids thing, it made a lot more sense. Good luck!

momomomo

ooooooops.............

you just hi-jacked this thread :o

LOL

you changed the topic in the middle of someone elses topic!!!!

people have been shot for less!!!! :D

since you are a newbie - i won't turn you in - THIS TIME!!!!

it will be our secret ;)

losing 16 lbs is great!!!!

over the next months +, you will probably have stalls, weight won't change

you can't/shouldn't get frustrated (pot calling the kettle black  )

follow all the rules - the weight will come off

frequent good saying on the board

"the one thing we all have in common is that we're all different" ;)

people will always lose lose different amounts of weight over different time periods

NEVER compare yourself to others!!!!

again, people have been shot for less :D

Omg I was so puky 24 hrs after surgery so wow that's crazy. Does anyone know good calorie count during the full liquid phase or is there not one? I can't do over 600 so I hope that's good.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
