surgery November 15th. trouble getting down fluids. make me nauseated.

Tiki

surgery was Friday???

and you are still around to talk about it :o

sounds like things will work out then!!!!

you JUST had WLS - gotta let your tummy heal, right now its sore and mad at you

being nauseous happens sometimes (that knowledge doesn't help you though  )

like i said, you are brand new - getting used to your sleeve

try some room temp Water (not cold), that might go down easier

be patient, things get better day to day - popsicles are great

hope you feel better soon

speedy recovery

kathy

Have you tried some crystal light or those flavored drops for your Water?

I know the feeling. I was nauseous for the first 4 weeks after. I ended up dehydrated and had to get 2 leters of IV fluids. My recommendation would be to get a antinausea medication from your doctor if you don't already have one. Try different fluids untill you find one you can tolerate.

The first two days it was hard to drink. By day 3 and 4, it was much easier. Just keep on trying.

I was sleeved on Thursday, so we're close.

I haven't tried anything other than plain Water and Water with Crystal Light (I did not like it - it make me more thirsty). I tried some broth, but that didn't go well. Jello about made me yack.

I can get thru an 8 ounce thinned out shake in about 30-40 minutes. I get frustrated that I can't take in more.

I'm allowed 2 T. of "slip and slide" food - applesauce, Greek yogurt, sugar free Jello, sugar free pudding, cottage cheese, etc. I can get the applesauce down, but again, that takes about 30 minutes.

I'm feeling much better today - still a few gas pains now and then.

It gets better. One morning you'll wake up and suddenly you'll be about to get more down. It just takes time. Try to be patient and not try to push to hard. I know your thinking "easy for you to say" But we've all been there. I promise it will get better.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
