Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Believe that. Let go of the past, it only drags you down. Fantastic you found someone to talk to. You are not the cause of anything. We do not choose problems in our lives and our health, but we can conquer them all through Faith, God, and our actions. Blessings!

Thanks for commenting. :) Did you have the sleeve revised to gastric bypass? I guess I'm just so afraid to do this. My can eat and I do have it under control somewhat but my problem is esophageal spasms caused from the GERD.. well, they aren't really sure if that is the cause but most likely.

Really, you're pissed that she said pissed? Get over yourself. Goldy, PJackson's probably right - unless he's always like this, he might just be feeling overwhelmed and scared and maybe just doesn't know how to tell you that. I hope things calm down for you soon, and Thursday's surgery resolves your health problems. In the meantime, you've always got support here on the boards!

I agree, as far as chastising people for language, let's focus on the issue people are presenting for support not the way they are expressing their pain. But I believe the f-bomb was edited out not the word pissed. ;)

I think when some individuals are scared or worried they react in anger and frustration. The husband can't help the situation it is out of his control and he may feel powerless. Then saying it was her doing or that it could have been avoided in his mind just statements and in fact very Poor choices of words perhaps?

Hi just checking in on you , i'm so proud of you going to see a counciler,I wish I could get up the nerve or get a "backbone" as one woman said(& she's right) My husband won't even let me go to Mass on Sunday, but my situation isnt the point of topic...you are, are you feeling any better? I sure hope so, just keep those fluids going & eat small meals a few times a day instead of 3. that seems to work for me. hope this little bit of advice helps & have a Blessed Holiday Season.

And for those folks who have their panties in a bunch over a word or to "they" think are inapproprate, GET OVER YOURSELVES, we're all adults & if the language IS offensive this sit will delete it. Have a happy holiday to all members...= )

Dear Goldy, I hope your household has become calmer and that you are doing much better, Healthwise, spiritually and mentally. We would like to see an update and continue this conversation to offer you hope and support as you are going through a difficult time.

MaryMc, I don't know what your story is that you are not allowed to go to Mass, but I am here to be your friend and am a strong 67 year old woman who lived that life once. I was only allowed to do what he allowed, and I was 40 years old, not some kid. I found that backbone I mentioned after 4 years of intense hell, and have been married to the love and partner from heaven for 23 years. Your journey in this weight loss will make you a new person. I would love to keep knowing and communicating with you and Goldy during this wonderful new phase of your life. Cheers to the new Goldy and Mary Mc!

Merry Christmas, Linda

I hate to to do this knowing it's really gonna piss some people off but here we go .

Sweetie if u have lost a lot of weight he's probably jealous , I had my bypass in 03 , I lost 175 and my partner of 11 years was so jealous. Why I don't know she was thin herself . In time I gained ALL the weight back and she honestly seemed happy about it . Needless to say our relationship ended after 16 years and I am now in the process of getting it back off . You do what you need to do for you to be healthy and feel good and if he can't support u in that something else is wrong and he's using that as his scapegoat... U keep up the good work my thoughts and PRAYERS are with u ...

Dear Miss Goldy,

You've been through so much! As far as your gall bladder surgery is concerned-it's not all that unusual for a gall bladder to act up after a patient has surgery for something else. I had a total hyst and 2 weeks later-after a good deal of pain, nausea and vomiting-I had my gall bladder out. At that time, I heard of a number of people who've had that happen. We might have had some underlying issues with the gb and the additional stress of any surgery brought the problem to the surface.

Now with any weight loss surgery you need to be clear in your mind who you are going through this for and what results you desire. Hopefully we can say we are doing this for ourselves-to improve our health, our confidence, or hell-just to save money on fat clothes! It's hard not to sound preachy, but it's probably not the best idea to do it because you think someone else wants you to do it. Some significant others may put up a fuss because they believe when your slim and gorgeous you will leave them! I'm just gonna suggest you not be the little sponge sucking up all that nastiness that will find its' way into your brain and confidence.

In the first year of my bypass I had lost about 70-80 lbs. and as I passed a full-length mirror one day and saw a much-slimmer me, I was almost horrified that I looked that thin! Why horrified? I have some ideas stemming back into my childhood, but the point is that I gained back a good 50 lbs because It took my brain a while to get a handle on the situation.

Back a moment to possible complications of having a gastric bypass. While I'm satisfied I've gone through it, I have had

issues early on with electrolyte imbalance. I received outpt IV therapy several times. Very low Iron and B12 requiring me to give myself B12 shots every month. Kidney stones last year or two. Luckily they resolved on their own. The most serious was a twisted bowel which required emergency surgery at 2 am in the morning. The surgeon was very clear that this could even happen again-because of the gastric bypass. Even after a year I don't feel I have my strength back yet.

So lots and lots to think about. Be strong, and be honest with yourself, if you can. Be the calm in the storm, girl-whatever you decide to do!

Hello I am going through the same thing. I had the sleeve 5 years ago and due to acid reflux and my esophagus was collapsing I had to have a revision to the bypass 14 months ago . I'm a 105lbs now and want to stop losing. I have been having issues since I had the revision. I just had a pick line in that I gained 20lbs and 3 weeks later it was gone. At first it was diarrhea and now its vomiting. I seemed to can't get a break. I felt great with the pick line in but that is dangerous walking around with a IV in your arm feeding you dripping over your heart. My gallbladder was taken out on 2/9/15. I just had my 3rd EDG on Monday since my surgery and they found nothing again. I am trying to stay positive but this is getting very hard and expensive. So I know what you are going through. I will be praying for you.

Sorry for your situation, but please clean up your language. We don't need that here.

Goldy girl, so sorry he is not being supportive. It is not your fault you had complications. We all know it's a risk going in. I will be thinking of you Thursday and wishing you a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Lynda

Sorry you are going through this hon. It isn't your fault and don't let anyone guilt you into believing it is. You need support/ concern not blame. Hubby has problems and it isn't you...in my opinion.

I'm sorry that your husband has said those hurtful things. You do have alot of support here. It's a public forum and you can speak your mind however you want. If someone doesn't like it then they can just go on to the next forum. Please don't be discouraged. Do you best and get better.

Sorry. But crap happens and it happens to people thin and not thin. Your husband sounds selfish. I'm sorry but it's not right. He chose to love you healthy, not healthy and through thick and thin. I think therapy is in order because there are deep rooted issues that aren't about you and your health issues! God bless you sister!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
