Nov. 18Th Is Surgery Day!

Recommended Posts

My first post...So, I am a 49 year old wife to 1, mom to 2, and grandma to 2. I am currently on leave from my job to be home with my grandbabies and help my dad after his cancer treatments. Reached my highest weight ever and decided it was time to do something for me. Now surgery is less than 36 hours away and I am more scared than excited. Sitting here debating a final meal or a bowl of Cereal. Tomorrow is Clear Liquids in preparation for surgery. I feel very emotional about everything and am not sure if it's me or if that's pretty normal. It has been very reassuring reading everyone's posts and knowing I am not alone on this journey. Thank you and all the best to you all!

hi I just got out of the hospital on nov 13th went in the 11th for the sleeve procedure. I want to say that the only time it really hit me that this is really is happening was the morning of the surgery. When I went into the OR they held my hand and guided me to the operating table, it was really cold in there. However, they will give you an IV and they will give you something to relax and basically you dont even know why your there anymore once they pump that stuff to make you go to sleep. I say stay strong this will change your life and avoid costly medical problems in the future. you are saving your life. I feel very strongly about this. Good Luck. Remember your getting a new lease on life. Exciting.

Take Care

Reminder to hide your recent activity list on the left hand side of your fb profile , just hit the x beside an activity a few times and it will ask you to hide all... :-) this will ensure the invite to group does not show up there..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
