Oldtimers thread

Recommended Posts

Your know who you are!!

Some of us oldtimers, hee hee, had to start our own threads, Waaaaaaaay back just to make it look like the 'Canadian forum' had more than 1 thread. But now, holy crap!!! Canadians are Rockin!!! So, I'm suggesting that all us 'oldtimers', can converse on one thread, hopefully saving time. I'm not sure if it will catch on, but I thought it was worth a try............................................................................

I think she's talkin' "us Canadians who were posting here back in the good old days (like in the past year, LOL)" .. shall I name names? CLOE, Yoda, Irishmist, neenagh, Lila, loriely, JUDE! (where is she!?) Wheezy even. Us who were posting here (canadian area of LBT) back when there were only a few of us here. Is that it, CLOE, or did you just mean old people, cause if that's it... I guess i'm out :girl_hug:

Yeah, I remember coming to the Canuck thread a year ago and there were maybe 2 whole posts on it!! I'd check every once in a while and there would be nothing new. Then, around 9 months ago or so, there were 3 or 4 of us who would "chat" on here and then ever so slowly, but surely, more and more Canucks would join us. Really, this particular site has come a loooooooooong way.....thanks to all those who have come out of the woodwork and made their way over here! (a good thing!). Long gone are the days when there were no threads or posts to get "caught up on", even after a week!!!!

Ahhhhh, how far we've come in that time, eh, Canuck oldtimers?!!!

Hi: I was referred to this site so I guess word of mouth has made it popular. I like the ease in which I can post and I like the website with it's graphics that are allowed to be shown. There was a bit of a dustup on another website and some left it for this site. Whatever, it is a fun site and I am enjoying it. Doddie

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh yes, your in Mandi!!!!!!!!!!!! Miss 'oldtimer'. Tee Hee.

I do mean like last spring when there was nothing here. I just thought it would be easier to communicate through one general thread for our general lives, instead of trying to go look for our threads(3 pages back).

Oh, and yes, Canadian, I do mean Canadian.:canada:

Hmmm Last spring, I guess I was a few months too late to join in this thread. You are right though Cloe, this site has gotten soooo busy. It's impossible to catch up on all the news.

Cloe, you are doing awesome. I'm thinking of going for another fill. I want to know from all of you old timers. How much restriction do you need to lose? Do you want or have to be at the point where you can hardly eat anything? Seriously, I have been a verrrry slow loser and need some advice. How tight do you have to be to have the successes you have experienced.

I need help!!!!

Hi too bad about excluding other bandsters. I wonder what the moderators think. New bandsters have a lot to offer including the desire which I am sure some older bandsters have lost. I would have thought that those that wanted could email each other privately as this website is supposed to be for all bandsters. Doddie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
