mrsto 2,925 Posted November 16, 2013 Post-op I had a minimum of 60 grams, but never exceeded 80. Now, 7.5 months out, I shoot for a minimum of 50, which my doctor said is fine for me at this point.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted November 16, 2013 It really depends. Everyone is different and has different requirements. The standard formula for minimum required Protein intake is your weight x .3. So yours would be 177x.3=53g of Protein. That number will change as your weight changes. However, that is the minimum. It's highly likely your nutritionist will suggest more. Talk to them and let them help you. 2 jakki14 and mrsto reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted November 16, 2013 I agree with Missy... ask your doctor or nutritionist what is right for you. Mine said no less than 60 daily and that is what I still do.
Tylerbaci 23 Posted November 17, 2013 What happens to you if you do not fulfill the required Protein requirement?
SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted November 17, 2013 Your hair, skin, nails, metabolism, all depend on Protein. Hair growth and bad nails would be common but of bigger concern would be malnutrition or 'wasting' if your protein intake was way low (think of cancer patients that are sick and can't or won't eat...that gaunt appearance). Protein is a biggie. Minor deficiencies would likely slow your weight loss as well, before the really bad stuff starts happening.
