Can't Believe I Did That!

Recommended Posts

I'm exactly one month out, been going so well. Losing weight, getting in my Protein and Fluid. Then tonight, I ate two cheese sticks and poured a glass of wine. I haven't drunk wine for months. Actually only took two sips of the wine and poured it away. But why did I do that? I thought I had it all under control.

My surgeon was specific about cheese and wine - NO CHEESE OR WINE!!! Too easy to put the weight back on he said. So what did I do? Cheese and wine...

Gee, hope I get myself back under control tomorrow.

Don't beat yourself up over it, you are only human. Next time you get a craving for something that you really want to indulge in that you know you shouldn't, write it down in a journal and write about it, why you want that food? what does it remind you of? are you feeling stressed? did something happen to trigger that craving? etc.... By the time you get done writing about it, maybe, just maybe you will realize you don't need that food item as much as you previously thought. Hang in there, nobody ever said it was going to be easy!

Thanks for that. I think i just got bored and lonely. Haven't kept myself busy enough today. That won't be a problem tomorrow - got my whole family coming around for dinner. I'm cooking up a feast, even though I can't eat any of it!! And that's why the wine is in the fridge. I clearly have the willpower of a gnat! Note to self - send all the wine home with them!!! (and the cheese)

Tomorrow is another day :) Hope you have an awesome time with your family. yeah, cooking for everyone else and not being able to eat any of it is a revelation in itself... have fun though, and think of it as a new way of life - as it is.. x

everyone pushes the envelop, but those that do so over and over may not get the benefit of the sleeve long term.

You (we) have an evil fat brain. It is not fixed in two weeks, two months, two years. You will be in battle with your fat brain for a looooong time.

Most likely fear got you to do it, take the chance and then you did it...Fear of the unknown, not to mention the life long struggle you will have to fix your brain and change your relationship with food.

The fact that you stopped at just a little means that you are changing the way you view food. Before the surgery you would have downed the entire glass and not thought a thing about it. You are already changing your relationship with food. You should be proud of yourself!!!!

It is a life long change and you will have trouble we all do!!!!! Anyone who says they don't or won't is fibbing!

Chin up and forward go!!!!!!!!!!!! K

Hey guys, I really appreciate the words of support. I felt so angry with myself last night. But a good sleep puts it all in perspective. Yes, before surgery I would have drunk the whole glass (actually, six months ago I would have drunk the whole bottle!) and I would have eaten all 8 sticks of cheese in the packet. And probably had a packet of crackers as well!

So you are all correct - I am changing my relationship with food. Scary stuff!

I am a total addict which is why I had this done. I am trying sooo hard to eat healthy but I always cave in. At least it's not as bad as before surgery. Before when I went to the grocery store hungry I would by all crap. Now I actually have to think about it and see if it will benefit me and comfort me. Very hard to do but I manage to do it :)

Thank goodness for the sleeve! I did cave, but there was a limit to the damage I could do. I'm being very good today. I WANT to lose that weight more than I want to eat crap!

I'm luckier than most - I live alone and only have to worry about MY food. Accordingly, there is NOTHING in the fridge or pantry, except canned chicken. Unless I'm cooking for the family (like today) when the cupboard is full of all sorts of goodies. But that only happens every month or so. So after dinner, I'm going to send the leftovers home with them and go back to keeping the bare essentials in my pantry.

I live with my boyfriend who says he is on a diet but buys tiny marshmallows for our sugar free hot cocoa. I'll be happy next week when I can start eating salads lol. Never thought I would say that :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
