Losing My Fat Blanket

Recommended Posts

For years, I never really wore a warm winter jacket, just a heavy sweater and a scarf. I'm sitting here in Ohio, it was really cold this week and I'm having trouble staying warm. I am NOT complaining, just making an observation, but I got to go out and buy a nice winter coat! I'm sitting here with a giant sweatshirt, that used to be tight, wrapped in a blanket eating beef vegetable Soup, nice and warm. I mentioned this to someone at work yesterday and they said I was losing my R-Factor, I about fell off my chair!! Anyway, anyone else in a cold climate having this issue?

Oh yeah, big time! It started for me last winter but this winter (after losing over 230 pounds) it's awful. I am freezing my butt off all the time. It doesn't matter how many layers I put on, or thick my jacket is, I'm cold. I spend way too much time by the fireplace wrapped in blankets just trying to stay warm.

I am feeling much colder than normal...but that's ok because I'm having lots of fun trying new jackets, clothes, and scarves.

I can't wait to be able to get a nice coat -- in a woman's size. Have been wearing men's parkas for a while for sleeve length and belly room. Won't it be nice to have some winter-wear that fits!

I am from Boston and I can not get warm. I wear a scarf in the house. Before Lap Band I would wear a scarf when it reached around 20. I am never warm. I wear full length fur coats and still get cold. But when I sleep, I sweat. That is weird and my bedroom has an open window all winter.

Maybe one day it will all balance and we will get warm again.

Same here! We're losing our insulation! haha I used to just wear a sweatshirt, even when it was 5 below!! Now, I'm bundled up, and wearing my heavy winter coat when it's 40!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
