Blondi418 6 Posted November 15, 2013 Hey everyone. New sleeve and since day one I have had horrible chest pain. I just want to know I'm not alone. It always hurts to swallow, yes I take micro sips, and I have sudden attacks randomly when I'm not trying to eat or drink. Like I said is it common?

Blondi418 6 Posted November 15, 2013 Peggy I was sleeved 11/11 Harriett thanks, I have been walking but the stupid stuff just won't go away, and since it hurts so bad to swallow I am having a terrible time getting any Water in.
Brighteyes 237 Posted November 15, 2013 Could it be stomach spasms? I know at first I was confusing feeling full for stomach spasms. The chest pain sounds like gas.
Peggy 53 69 Posted November 16, 2013 Your just healing..... This is normal. It can take a week or two to go away...although I still had remnants of it a month out IF, and here is the key, IF you are going to fast, trying to drink too much. Some people are more sensitive to very cold Water, some to hot water. Many are better with room temp or warm fluids. It will pass, just be patient.. You are healing.... You are only 4 days out. jko 1 Posted November 16, 2013 Was anyone given anything to take for gas post-surgery? I had my surgery on 11/12/2013 and the only issue I have had is with gas. I was up 30 minutes after being in the recovery room and walked a mile. I didn't seem to help with the gas all that much. I've been active since then as well, but still seem to have gas issues. I've seen reference to some folks using GasX and was wondering if that is safe 4 days post-surgery. I believe there are "Thin Strips" that can be used so no pills have too be swallowed. I know how bad the gas pain can be and I am trying to power through it. Anything that could help tolerate it would be good!
Blondi418 6 Posted November 16, 2013 Jko, I tried the gasX thin strips but it did not help with the chest gas pain at all, it did help with lower abdomen rumbles but unfortunately not the horrid pain in my chest. I have found that if I take a very deep breath after swallowing and let it out slowly the pain is not as bad. Hot things for me do not trigger it as bad as cold things. Hope we both get some relief soon .
DirtyHarriett 94 Posted November 16, 2013 Are you using the spirometer? Is it at a good number? Try a heating pad on you abdomen. I hear that helps too. My dr was against gas x. Wanted it to come out with walking. Said that if a strip relieved the pain folks became sedentary. So keep walking! I hope your pain eases quickly as it is wicked. Branmuffin 190 Posted November 17, 2013 Twp hours ago i took a couple chewable gas x. An hour ago I got a bottled Water (room temp) and added a little fruit punch mio flavoring to it and have been able to sip it without the pain. Fingers crossed! Hoping its the beginning of my better experience!
