3Days Post Op: Alighterme And Dr Elias A Ortiz

Recommended Posts

I don't know why my post didn't show up. Anyway I am 3 days out and doing really well. I get my drain out today and have been shopping in TJ.

I will give a much more in depth review when I get further out but I wanted to see if you all had questions about Dr Ortiz and Alighterme. I am here to give you an honest opinion.

I have breezed through this so far. No side effects or complications. I'm 1 week out and doing fine at work. I forget I had anything done. I'm able to drink my shakes and will move up the ladder to food when it's time! I started the 2 week preop diet at 296lbs. I weighed 264 this morning so that's exciting.

Pack light!!!! You can't lift over 15lbs so you don't want a heavy suitcase at the airport. I just carried on a small bag. Bring gas x strips. They melt on your tongue and really help after surgery. Don't bring a lot of cash but I recommend some. Abraham will take you shopping and not everywhere takes visa but most do.

You will be close to Wal Mart so you can buy gauze there and GNC is next door. They have good Protein Drinks in individual sizes in their fridge.

If you need anything at all Abraham will get it for you. They have great service. Just keep in mind. The first 24hrs is a little tough but after that it gets much better and you will be moving around and feeling good. Ortiz is a perfectionist and his patients do well. I am still talking to many of them and they are all doing really well. Feel free to ask questions, Bob

I did tip at the end of the trip bc he did a great job. I'm doing really well. Adjusting to my sleeve and figuring out how it feels to be hungry, full, etc...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
