How Much Are U "eating"?

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am 10 days out from being sleeved and kind of concerned at how much I can eat. This morning I ate an entire serving of Greek yogurt and was still hungry after. I just finished a thing of pintos n cheese from Taco Bell. And I still feel that empty hollow feeling in the pit of my tummy although I also feel it a tad backed up into my esophogus. But not enough to make me really uncomfortable. It just seems that satiety isn't what it used to be. So if you're still in puréed foods, how much can u eat? And how do you know when you're full?

Thanks

My stomach gave me fits for weeks and I was only eating about 3/4 can of Soup per day for the 1st month. But others say they were back to eat their regular foods in days - they didn't say if they had gone against their doctors prescribed diet or not.

But my stomach, my taste buds, and sense of smell were all out of wack for weeks, so what you're going through seems to be part of the process. Hang in there, your new stomach needs time to adjust and heal.

Hi I recently asked this same question as I will be 4 wreks out on Monday. I started puree on day 10... I'm starving! But the answers I got were all the same... because purees are watered down they go right through and its hard to stay full. Everyone says once you start on solid food it changes. Be careful with how much you are eating though... I think at 10 days it's only 2-3 tbls... you don't want a leak because you overfilled your sleeve... you are not supposed to eat until full.. you are probably experiencing head hunger or reflux...

If you can feel it backed up, you are FULL. Measure your food and only consume 1-2 oz at a time for now.

Remember to take your PPI as acid build up mimics the gnawing hunger feeling.

Slow and careful. Your staples are still healing and you don't want to cause your teeny tummy any issues.

Thank you for your replies. I've been eating really slow trying to take notice of my "full" signs. I've been taking my ppi twice daily hoping to get a handle on this hunger. It's rough but sooo glad to be at puréed food stage. I can also still gulp Water although I try my hardest not to. I guess I was expecting this to be like when I was banded. Full foods can't come soon enough!

are you trying to be helpful? I say if it's not on your list, don't eat it. And don't worry about my list.

Refried Beans were on my list at that time. Taco bells pinto and cheese is the right consistency and full of Protein. Look it up on the TB website

Oh and op. I've noticed and read that lap band to sleeve patients have a little more capacity.

I wouldn't worry but you should measure your food out this early and not rely on full signals just yet the stomach is still numb swollen and healing.

oy, not the refried bean debate! Sounds messy. I think we all have different lists geared to what our surgeons and/or nuts recommend. Yes, refried Beans were definetly on my list. And yes at 10-14 days out. Point being, I'm asking a question. I don't need/want my food policed. Right up there with friends and family saying, "should you be eating THAT?" Drives me nutso. No offense to Laura-ven, you are always most helpful. Sorry if I'm coming off a little b*tchy, IM HUNGRY!! ????

ive heard that too. Luckily or unluckily my surgeon was unable to sleeve me when I had my band removed. When I saw him at the f/u appt, he said I was as close to being a "virgin" sleever as possible. Having an extra "pouch" was of great concern to me having lived with a slip and prolapse for 3 years. But you are right, I should probably start measuring. Do you think, even in the purée/mushy stage? I just figured I wouldn't start measuring until solids, if, at all. TY!

Lol! I know the hunger :D

Yep I would definitely measure.. That early out I was told to eat no more than 1/4 cup of purée at a sitting.. Not sure what your doc says. Meals will be frequent like every couple of hours. But keep them small because feeling isn't back yet. That's why you felt it in your throat instead of your stomach most likely.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
