PB question

Recommended Posts

Is this something where it comes up suddenly? Is it just the food that recently went down or a good "barfing"? Can you descretly do it into your napkin or does your body shake like a vomit? If you have to "leave the table" do you have to time to get somewhere before it comes up?

I swear in all the reading, I've missed this info somehow :)

Sliming too - same questions.

Thank you!!!

I can only tell you the range of things that happen to me....

Sometimes something gets stuck and I feel myself making very thick saliva. I think it's interesting that the body can create this stuff that I've never seen before, to help something slide down. Anyway, there is time to go to the bathroom. Or at home to grab two layers of paper towels. The first time I did it I suffered. I just sat there making this gross stuff and hurting. And sweating. And sometimes with a runny nose for some strange reason. Now, I get my paper towels, spit that slime out a few times and then sometimes that's all. If that doesn't work, then I know I'm going to hurl, but it is usually a ladylike hurl of a small amount of stuff that comes up with minimal drama. Practice makes perfect. The only other thing I get is sometimes something is stuck and it feels really minor, and, thanks to another bandster here, I know to raise my arms over my head and sometimes it will go on down. I also know NONE of this stuff happens often if I sit up straight with good posture while I eat. Go figure..... I also know that some bandsters carry paper cups in their purses for emergencies. I like paper towels because they absorb. Maybe a paper cup with a paper towel in it is the best of both worlds.

In my case there is no staying at the table- the sliming is so heavy I cant talk and breathing hurts. If im at that level of sliming its not going down!! I have always made it to the bathroom- although I have also had to use the bushes outside a resturant. Later laughing because IF people saw me they probably thought I had too much to drink.

Sometimes getting up and walking helps, arms up helps to. Im not in the clear until the sliming and the pain stop!! The sliming is amazing ability of the body!! It is THICK spit and there is no disguising it so you might as well go away from the table. The harder you try to swallow it the more you make!! Blockage is blockage my slime wont even go down. Once I get that pain and block message from the stomach to the brain- I also get runny nose, sometimes even diarrhea! Go figure.

The PB is dainty compared to full blown gastrointestinal vomiting. However it is coming up. The relief is INSTANT!!

The longest slim I had was 30-40 minutes and the only thing that helped was papaya enzyme and warm Water.

I was hoping to be like so many others that never had a pb- unfortunatedly I have several a week then none for several weeks and no relation to fills. ????

Betsy...

I swear by Bounty brand paper towels! LOL

I agree. They're the quicker picker upper, if you catch my drift.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
