Hang in there! Everyone says the first few days are the worst.

It must be difficult, but keep your eye on the prize...

I was sleeved yesterday. My thoughts are heading your way for a speedy recovery!

Hang in there! I was sleeved on 11.12.13 too. Fortunately I can keep things down, but the soreness is much worse today.

I'll keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

S.

For all my liquids, the first day or so, I had to use a syringe. I had liquid lortab (apple flavored) and used the syringe they gave me for that.

Each one of us are going to have their stomach's respond to the trauma differently. Some folks, like myself and I am guessing you, are swellers. Their tissue swells more than average thus the current amount of space in the stomach is minute. Tiny. Trying to force things will only make it worse. It kills me when I would read responses from people who could drink a whole glass of Water on the day of or one day post surgery. They are not swellers such as us. You can't take an anti-inflammatory because one of the functions of the swelling is helping to prevent leaks. So, what can you do? Just keep taking tiny amounts. Constantly. Walk around with a syringe of water (I think I actually used Gatorade) and squirt tiny amounts in.

As mentioned, the first days are tough. Everything is different now, so don't expect things to be the same.

I was sleeved 11/5. Could only get the tiniest bits of Water in and then I'd dry heave like crazy. About the fourth day I started to be able to take a Vitamin. Then each day I was able to drink I little more water. I'm up to all my Vitamins now but my taste buds changed so I only manage one or two sugar free Popsicles and a sugar free Jello in a day. Down 26 pounds, 16 since surgery so I'm OK w/that. Yesterday (day8) was the first day I felt normal.

Hope you start feeling better soon. That nausea craps a B!

Mouse, I am glad you will see someone. While it WILL get better, you can get dehydrated quickly and THAT can present its own set of difficulties!!! So YES, discuss with your MD team!!!

I had that when I had mine last month. I couldn't keep a thing down until they found my sleeve swollen shut in two places.

They took care of it by giving me a steroid shot in the belly. An hour later I could sip without dry heaving.

Also, a good portion of people can't keep much down until about 5-7 days post op.

Keep us updated!

Hang in there!! I had a rough start out of my group but it WILL get better. More than likely it's the swelling. Try not to worry. And welcome to the club!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
