Christina.Rose 287 Posted November 14, 2013 I just heard the cholesterol medication Lipitor may be a cause of diabetes with a significant number of women affected. I don't have details and don't want any drama from other forum participants. I just thought it may be something that people potentially affected might look up information to possibly help themselves. I saw this on one of those class action lawyer commercials. As to the validity of the claims, its up to the individual to check it out. Hopefully this does help someone. B-52 7,113 Posted November 14, 2013 When I was a Diabetic, I was put on Lipitor and it did raise my sugar levels...also, any Cholesterol drugs I took would raise my sugar levels...therefore I needed to raise my Insulin dosages....throw in Blood Pressure Meds, and all sorts of other meds, and it was an out of control game of give and take that my Dr.'s could not get under control and balanced out... My Endocrinologist said if I could loose 40-60 lbs all this would go away.....She was RIGHT....no more Rx Meds!!! 3 Christina.Rose, Sharpie and Bandista reacted to this
Sharpie 3,306 Posted November 15, 2013 yes I was on simvastasin for years and then became diabetic.. they did switch me to Crestor and my cholesterol level dropped.. but I was still diabetic.. now I do have a family history of diabetes so it wasn't surprising for me.. since being banded and losing 55 lbs I no longer have diabetes and no longer take Crestor or any meds.. I only take Vitamins and I still take a baby aspirin daily as prescribed by my PCP. So Happy to be off of Metformin and Crestor.. 1 B-52 reacted to this
