mskrys 68 Posted November 14, 2013 Hey everyone. I'm 27 and weigh 410 lbs. this has been a very quick process for me to get approved for the surgery. I had my second visit and actually gained 10 lbs!! Doctor told me to lose it by my visit tomorrow (I lost 12 according to my scale). I'm tentatively scheduled for dec 2 pending tomorrow's weigh in. But all this makes me think that I won't be able to lose the weight. I have 200+ lbs to lose and don't think I can do it. I have such a bad relationship with food. Anyone have any encouraging words or advice? How did you make it? HELP!!!!!!!

KatieOkieDokie 171 Posted December 2, 2013 Oh I know how you are feeling! I started at 450, or plus. I a really actually don't know know how much I weighed. When I first started to diet I was too big to be weighed on any scales I had, or my dr. office had. So I just say 450. By the time I had my first appointment with my surgeon I weighed 422 so I had lost over what I estimate as around 30 lbs (that took 7 months). My surgeon then let me know that he would not perform surgery until I lost another 75 lbs. I felt so defeated. Even though I understood why he wanted me to lose I still thought it was silly. I mean I had to lose weight to have weight loss surgery? Really? I left feeling very defeated, and down. LIke it was never going to happen. I mean it took me 7 months to lose 30 lbs. I now have to lose that two more times, and then 15 after that! I thought it would take me a good year and half. However, that day I also met with a nutritionist who put me on a high Protein, low carb diet. I was very restricted on what I could and could eat and drink! But it worked. I lost 30 lbs the first month! And within 3 months I was ready for surgery! I have now lost almost 170 lbs in a year! This time last year I would have never thought I would have lost 75 lbs, not alone almost a hundred pounds more than that! You can do it. It may be hard, but it's VERY doable!. 1 L-in-NJ reacted to this
Chellennunley 62 Posted December 10, 2013 I started my prep diet on July 15th. I weighed 418. Surgery was July 31st. As of this morning I have lost 103 lbs. The best advise I can give you is make sure you are all in. But also remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint. There will be hard times, times you will feel discouraged, but attitude is so very important! You HAVE THIS!
