I too am on pre-op diet. Are you getting any Protein? Protein is very important, both now and after. Can you drink Protein Shakes? My favorite is Pure Protein. 30 g protein. Everyone has their preference.

I start mine the 21st for December 6 surgery. Not looking forward to it t all, since I always look forward to thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, but ultimately I know that missing this one year will probably add 30+ years to my life.

I'm on the 20th also==we're surgery twins--I wish you the best of luck (and to everyone else on their upcoming surgeries). I started my liquid diet last thursday---A couple of days were pretty tough--I think from withdrawal from carbs--it's better now but I'm pretty weak. It will be here before we know it though--from what I've heard, it's not quite as hard after since you aren't that hungry--(I pray that this is true!)

If you like spices or hot sauce that will give it flavor! For dinner I had cream of chicken and put in just a bit of franks buffalo hot sauce! Gave it some flavor and made it better to eat! Lol! I know they td us after we get sleeved and if we can handle it use sauces to spice things up! The weekend will be more challenging for me but I'm gonna keep busy cleaning house ect...

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
