Feeling Sluggish When "eating".

Recommended Posts

Hi again. Also I feel like I'm having a decent recovery., I'm still on full liquids. The only thing is that when I drink a Protein Shake I feel like a slug and pretty uncomfortable and can't really do much the entire time I'm drinking it. And that's hard for me because I have 2 small childen I want/have to be doing things for. I'm warn out energy wise pretty quickly and it makes me angry and moody. Will this go away? I dont want to feel uncomfortable everytime I eat for the rest of my life!!!???

Mine has improved for the most part. I still wear down faster then I used to But I think it's still me trying to get the Proteins and Water in like I am supposed to. I can't drink my Proteins yet and I'm 6 weeks out. They make me ill, I had no problems with them before surgery but after... I would feel pukey, get an upset stomach, and get tired as well as I drank them (maybe more depressed because I felt ill). My surgeon told me not too worry too much about the proteins at this point more about the hydration that the proteins will come.

What I did to get some of the proteins in and tolerated it alot better.. was make hot Soup via broth or cream of whatever (pureed, and doctors idea) and added like half a scoop of unflavored Protein to like 3-4 oz of that. I took about 20 minutes to eat it. Good luck to you!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
