Absolutely! You're more likely to have a compromised air passage if you have sleep apnea so they need it as much, if not more, than those without sleep apnea.

No and he really didn't notice, it was easy breezy!

You're out before they insert it....maybe a sore throat post-op but otherwise you'll never know it's there.

Oh just wait :). You'll get crazier. It's totally normal :D. I've had a c-section, gallbladder removal, 2 surgical repairs on an arm, lap band placement, lap band removal, and most recently an RNY. I'm also a medical professional, and absolutely a realist. I spent the weekend before my RNY crying and writing letters to those I love...just in case. :). Part of it is starvation brain, part if it is just fear of the unknown...it's normal but don't key it make you back down. You deserve a new and healthier you and you've gone through too much crap to give it up now :). Good luck!!!!!

Starvation of the brain that's great! I've been doing my prep diet and that's how I feel (hating meat and eggs right now) before that it all quiet in there. Lol, I feel that this is the path that God put me on after I begged Him for months for solutions. I will not back out of it. for me backing out equals very early death because I have alot of obesity related problems. This is a new chance to live better and healthier I will hold onto to it like my life depends on it which it does.

I brought my CPAP machine to the hospital and they hooked it up afterwards, monitored the oxygen levels (as they do for every one) and I was able to sleep on and off that night. It was definitely not a big deal. I am really hoping to be able to ditch the machine at some point after significant weight loss -- that would be so great! But meanwhile it's a love/hate relationship. Love it that I can actually reach a deep state of sleep but hate having the hassle of the apparatus. My husband calls me Aqua Girl.

Good luck with your upcoming surgery! Mine was a week ago and I am so happy! For me the absolute best thing was walking. When I had to get up to pee after the surgery I got my robe on and took that IV pole up and down the hallway each time. Continued walking at home, too, and now I am walking so much more in my life. I think this really helped with the healing and I know it's going to help significantly with the weight loss. Also I did not go the narcotics route. For me that's just more to recover from, the side effects, etc. And I don't like that out-of-it feeling. Was able to do fine on Ibuprofen and Tylenol. Best wishes to you!

I have (had? TBD) sleep apnea. They told me the breathing tube would go in shortly after I was asleep. I never knew though. Didn't even have a sore throat after it was all over. Slept like crap over night at the hospital even with my cpap because my O2 levels were yo yo'ing causing the alarm to go off and wake me up.

Old saying goes if you want rest do not go into the hospital

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
