Eggs: Weigh In With Your Favorites

Recommended Posts

I have a flock of backyard chickens, so we have a lot of fresh eggs: all brown and blue.

So: what is your favorite way to cook an egg?

Favorite receipe?

Do you like eggs of other birds?

I'm considering adding other birds in the future. Yes fresh eggs are a good source of Protein. And I'm always looking for new ways to cook them.

Personally: I'm not a fan of scrambled eggs. My favorites are sunnyside up and soft boiled. I also like the egg whites. My dogs sometimes get the extra yolks.

Quiche with goat cheese and spinach is a win for me in terms of receipes.

I actually haven't had eggs of other birds. I'm considering trying duck and quail eggs. But I'm still on the fence about it.

I only use chicken eggs...and have used eggs for Breakfast nearly every day since being banded. I like scrambled with shredded chicken and scallions. But I prefer crustless quiche, and add a variety if meats, cheeses, and veggies to them, so I never get bored.

So far, this is what is working for me...

I am totally a quiche girl. I do crustless mini quiches the size of brownie bites. They freeze easily and I can pop out the one or two my tiny tummy can hold. (Sleever here.)

I love poached eggs and I often bake eggs to "hardboil" them instead of doing the stovetop Water method.n They turn out much better and are easier to peel.

Mmmmmm....experiment with different flavors of deviled eggs, too.

Here are some ideas to start you off:

Very cool lipstick lady- I never thought of freezing quiche. I'm going to have to do this. And I like the idea of mini-sized. I have 3 sons so I rarely make anything mini around here. But that would be a good quick lunch for me while they're at school.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
