I used to eat more chicken than anything else. Since surgery, I rarely eat it anymore. Unless a chicken breast has some sort of sauce on it, it's way too dry. If you like dark meat, you may have better luck with that.

Regarding bread, I've never had any issues with it since surgery. I don't eat much of it anymore, because it takes up too much space in an already limited capacity. Since there isn't much nutritional value, I just stay away from it.

Most of my stuck episodes have been on chicken. Now I put my chicken in a chopper to make chicken salad and it works for me. I generally avoid the breast meat cuz it's too dry

I eat a lot o chicken salad, but chicken breast by itself is way to dry. I eat very little bread, if i do, it is mostly toasted.

chicken is stringy and dry even the dark meat is stringy. Try making chicken salad or something like that and maybe you will be able to eat it.

This is where sliders are actually used in a positive manner. I typically eat dry or thick meats with some kind of low cal sauce that gives the meat just enough moisture that it doesn't coagulate into a solid mass when sitting in the pouch. Examples are chicken cacciatore (tomato sauce, onion and peppers), tuna/chicken/egg/turky salads and hamburger bolognese, I deduct the calories but rarely does that pose an issue. I never have issues with meats when I prepare them this way.

I can rarely eat chicken I don't have problems with the canned chicken so I use it a lot in Soups and stews. the harder the bread(toast ,crackers, french etc,) the easy to get down in very small pieces.

I cannot eat white meat of any kind, it is too dry but dark meat seems to be fine. I think everyone is different. I cannot eat bread at all unless it is toasted very well, but since I have not eaten bread in a long time, the first time I tried it, the taste just wan't what I remembered.

Thanks everyone . I thought T was odd but seems like a common problem. I'll try making some chicken salad or get the dark meat.. I like better anyway :)

If you can, try Free range chicken.....night and day!

I gave up meat after being banded, and now seldom eat chicken, except maybe in Chinese food......more for health reasons than the band, although it can give my band problems.....

But Free range...it's hard to believe it's chicken...

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
