They constantly were checking on me and I will be getting up to try and walk I have also been blowing in the device and coughing to avoid ammonia (sorry I I spelled it wrong) .... I know a couple girls also had this surgery date and I hope you girls are doing great!!! Let me know your statues !! The people in the hospital have been angels sent from God and super amazing .. Well have to go I'm a little nauseas ...

Hey all. I had my surgery on Monday November 4th. All went well and I came home the next day. I have been very lucky with not having a lot of pain. Just soreness and a little discomfort at times. I'm having a heck of a time with getting my Protein in. Doing great with fluids though considering I'm on the liquid diet. A lot of temptations have been around and although the items have all smelled amazing I have had no desire to eat them. I am looking forward to be able to eat set hong besides Clear liquids though.

Ok enough ranting. Time for some stats.

HW:385lbs. SW:347lbs. CW:328lbs

I hope everyone else is doing well in their journeys and look forward to continued success.

When does the pain go away? Just wondering, I don't have a high pain threshold so I'm in serious pain I'm taking pain meds but doesn't work, also how long before u can stand up straight ... I was discharged front the hospital today and I regret leaving because I can't lay down on my ed just siting on the couch which sucks ... My husband ate some Taco Bell today and it's crazy how nauseated the smell made me yay no temptations :) so happy but seriously this pain and what can I do to lessen it besides walking

Hi Nervous&Happy!

I had my surgery on 10/28 and I like you was in serious pain. There was no comfortable position I could find anywhere. At one point on my second day home I happened to lean up against the arm of the couch in the fetal position and because it was the first time I felt semi-not-in-pain, I told my wife to bring my meds and let me stay there for the night. She did and of course it lasted about 2 hours and I no longer was comfortable. For me, I had to time the meds right. Even though they prescribed liquid hydrocodone that I was supposed to take every 4 hours, I learned that the pain would increase at about 3 1/2 hours. So for the first full day home, I took the meds every 3 hours or just after. I also walked from the bedroom to the kitchen for 10 minutes at a time. I walked like a 90 year old snail but at least I was walking. By the second full day home, I was able to go 4 to 4 1/2 hours before pain increased. And I took meds accordingly. Those first few days for me were the worst pain I'd ever had. But I listened to what everyone on the board kept saying, "walk, walk and walk". I wanted to punch anyone that told me to walk but it is true. By day four/five I could actually sleep and that made the difference. Between the pain, lack of sleep and the shock to the body the first few days are tough. I does get better slowly. Your not alone. I know you've heard it all before but just take it moment to moment. Get through this moment and don't worry about the next until it comes. God Bless!

Welcome to the loser's bench....i was in pain pretty constantly at first, forced myself to walk. Slept in a recliner, and it helped. Just be careful with pain meds that have Tylenol....too much Tylenol can cause liver damage.

I hope you both recover really quickly, sorry for the delay in wishing you well but with this site changing and my slow recovery I've been struggling to get back in touch with people. Very best wishes to you :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
