I am hoping to be sleeved in early December and I am most scared about Hair loss. I have read the hair loss section in the veterans forum and it didn't make me feel any better. My hair is med length but it is very very thin. I try to use hair strengthening shampoos and not dry or flat Iron it every day to help it. It has helped but it's still extremely thin. Top, newer hair is a little thicker but not much. Don't think I can handle it if I lose what little hair I already have :(

May not be what you want to hear, but, get your hair cut short. A shorter do always makes your hair look thicker. I know. I have thin fine hair and keep it short. If i lose too much I'll go even shorter!!! Good luck!!!

I'm right there with thin hair, and Hair loss was a concern. One word of advice? don't focus on it....focus on the bigger picture.....this surgery is a game changer, a life saver......I can't believe how different things are since I had surgery.....so many positive things

My sister had thick thick thick hair....her hair got quite thin around 3 months after surgery, and it was a temporary situation. My hair seems to be holding for now.......if it does get unbearably thin, I'll have fun with it.....there are some cute wigs out there.....perhaps in a new color.......new style......and remember, not everyone loses hair.........

Welcome to the group! Wishing you the best on this journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
