Gossip About The New Neighbors

Recommended Posts

Tara, hi and welcome. Hang out with us any time. I welcome information about your experience!

I just read the Nana thread and I have to say whoa, Nellie.

I have this one family friend who is a really loud and obnoxious shit-disturber. She loves to argue about everything. Some of her premises may be valid, but she bases her arguments on her opinion and rejects any information that doesn't go along with her beliefs. Also, she believes that anyone who disagrees with her is just uninformed, or hasn't done her research, or is stupid. I love her, but she exhausts me.

That's what the thread reminded me of. Of course everyone isn't that way. But I've been here a week and haven't seen anything nearly that fun with the sleevers. Yet. Mwa ha ha.

It was too much fun watching everyone attempt logic. I didn't feel up to it myself. Save me a hot dog.

After I graduated from my small town Iowa grade school I was bussed to the big city Junior High. I was shocked by the low expectation level of the teachers and also the ambivalent attitude of the students toward their education. My grade school teachers were education tyrants and demanded learning the basics. The Junior High teachers were seemingly interested in getting a paycheck.

But beyond the negatives it was a beautiful time to get to know people who were alien to my culture. That time was as valuable as the academics.

I live with a gastric bypass cutie and get along famously, we had the same goals, took different paths, ended up in the same place.

Every immersion into a new scope of personalities and viewing angles opens the possibility of misunderstanding due to the differences in our frames of reference. We can all learn from one another and it will be an overall positive experience if we take it easy on each other. And things will go much more smoothly if everyone just agrees with all that I say. :D

I just read the post and was HOWLING! I was literally laughing so hard I was crying. A recap of my favorite quotes:

"it just looks like NaNa got jumped on like a starved man on a Christmas ham"

"that tops the gal who wanted sympathy for eating tacos hours after her surgery."

"Bless your heart, I know you mean well, I don't know what you are talking about regarding your medical degree..I have a degree in computer science...Now please don't embarrass yourself with all of your so called lap band knowledge and long history in the medical field in Nursing..." (While giving medical advice to a *nurse*!)

"What the hell? I hope I'm not the "taco girl"..!"

"Ok just got my popcorn!! What I miss?"

-------

I am stuck in bed about 22 hours a day (for four weeks) due to a non sleeved surgery. Thanks for the best laugh I have had in weeks. That is the most effed up thread I have ever read. Those poor poor people...

You should go read it. It is seriously hilarious.

On a more serious note, it's a fabulous reminder of why its important to be compassionate and a good listener --- and the mayhem that ensues when we dont do those things. Its also a good reminder if why the caps lock key might be a good thing to avoid when communicating online. Lol.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
