Choppy1383837799 1 Posted November 11, 2013 Hi, I was sleeved Wednesday (11/6) morning and haven't had a movement since. I think I might feel one in the works, possibly. What has been others experience? Thanks
Fluffnomore 1,235 Posted November 11, 2013 Took me a few days for the first one. Haven't been exactly what I have been used to since, either. It's a new normal.
FieryRed 55 Posted November 12, 2013 I'm almost 4 weeks post op and was always "regular" before. For the first few weeks, I had to take a laxative every other day and the cramps were horrible! Now that I can eat "normal stuff," I'm doing my Protein shake in the morning (25-50g) and then a bit more Protein at lunch but for dinner, I'm concentrating on veggies to help "bulk up" for BMs. The lack of veggies in the beginning (when you can barely stand to eat or drink anything) plus if you're taking Iron supplements, make it impossible to have a BM normally and regularly. disterdis 22 Posted November 12, 2013 I was sleeved 10/24 and on liquids and still having BM issues can't go for 2 days at a time. Went almost 4 and took a laxative but don't want to keep taking them. And doesn't seem like much when I do go but assuming its because there is no food intake just liquid.< /p>
*susan* 1,709 Posted November 12, 2013 This is actually a very common problem when you first have your surgery. The other issue is, once you finally do have a BM, it can often be very hard and painful. For me, Milk of Magnesia was a life saver. Stool softeners are also helpful. Remember, no matter how difficult it is, make sure you stay well hydrated, because that makes a huge difference as well.
rls41998 91 Posted November 13, 2013 I was sleeved 11/4. Had post op bm 11/10. And was it painful. Sent hubby to store for stool softners immediately. Definitely recommend them !!

sifford1 27 Posted November 13, 2013 I am still having problems, I go days and days! I have had 3 bms in three weeks, only one was natural! The other two was Malco-magnesia or however you spell it! Lol! The dr told me to take 2 tbs and it worked, and only use it every other day as needed! I may have to take some today! I found that malc-magnesia and maalox are my new best friends for a while, and the only two things my dr will let me take!
Choppy1383837799 1 Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks. Everything worked itself out last night, thanks to a barrage of Metamucil, Miralax, and Colace.
penman53 493 Posted November 29, 2013 I just had terrible stomach pains yesterday afternoon and again this morning after my Protein Shake. Turns out that I was simply constipated. After an extended time in the Water closet and finally having a BM, I feel fine now. But I definitely need to start up on laxitives again. You know the small amount of solid foods that we injest simply fails to provide us with enough roughage to have regular stools in my opinion. I know that I have had very few issues since getting sleeved in July. The Constipation is really the only problem I have had.
