Funny that you mention this: I have always been 5'10" and most recently had my height checked and I was 5' 9 1/2". I thought I shrunk due to my age. Interesting....................

Hummm I haven't measured my height since surgery, but I do know that I always thought I was 5'5.5" before starting my orientation and then at my first appt with Kaiser's nurse, they told me I was 5'7". Then at the surgeon's office 3 months later they told me I was 5'6." Now I will have to go get a height measurement done just bc. I would think that since losing all this weight, it would of taken a lot of the pressure off our bodies and we would actually get a bit taller. :P

That's right! I have heard of people actually getting taller. Hmmm maybe I measured wrong. I did it myself because my mom said i look shorter lol.

Could it be the extra fat pads on the bottom of our feet that made us taller?

I say this because I noticed a friend of mine that is super morbidly obese sits way taller than me when we are sitting next to each other although she is actually my same height.

I have shrunk an inch in height, went down a shoe size, 4 ring sizes...clothing from 3-5x on top with 22 pants to Medium tops and pants anywhere from a 2 to an 8 and I still have a decent amount left I could lose - crazy.

With the height thing I guess maybe I had a fat head or fat platforms lol - everything else was so it makes sense.

YES! I used to be 5'6" and when I went to my PCP in Sept they called it 5'5" and a half or a quarter or something. I guess it does make sense, but it means I'm even FURTHER away from that stupid BMI chart saying what I should weigh.

That's my exact concern! NOW I'm further from goal haha!

I have a friend who is taller than me when sitting but shorter when standing. She has a longer torso than I do so it makes sense. I've not shrunk a bit. Perhaps because I don't have much to lose in the height department?

Oh ****! I hadn't thought about that!!

I will not re measure my height I WILL NOT!!

La la la I don't hear you!!

I know, right?

When the guy said 5'5"...I turned around and went WHAT? He was like "oh and a quarter, I'll give you that as well" ...thanks dude for the favor. Sheesh. I think it must have been a quarter. I was all ready to DEMAND a recount right then and there!!

At the doctors Thursday she measured me at 5'6.5. I was always that except for the last 5 years I've been 5'6 WEIRD!!

I'm not complaining however. lol

Must've been my weight pulling me down!! Hmmmm

I am shorter! I started at 5'4", and now I'm 5'3". I'm sticking with 5'4", lol. Otherwise I have even more to lose. I thought maybe it age related, but it wouldn't be typical to lose that much in that short of a time at 51. I don't know where it's from though!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
