Going All Liquids....

Recommended Posts

Going to go all liquids for a few days, starting today....realized it has been a while and I need to give it all a good rest, and let things settle down and re-set.....

For me, all liquid means Protein Shakes, Soups, anything that does not need chewing....perfect slider foods...

Cleansing effect. It works wonders on band people. Many have to try this every so often. It's almost like a jump start to our systems.

B -52 ever since I saw you recommend this a while back, I do it for a couple of days, a couple of times a month and each time I walk away feeling like I have a brand new band.

When you do this, do the band signals sort of come alive.....like a renewed sense of restriction (for lack of a better word)?

Something I picked up on my own, from bits of info here and there...

for instance, whenever someone has a problem the first thing the Dr. says is to go liquids for a few days....

Also, the Dr. may give a complete un-fill, accomplishing the same thing...giving the band a rest....

I can't speak for anyone else, nor would I say this will work for all.....but in my case, I have not had a fill in about 2 1/2 years now.....that's not to say I have never felt I needed one...but if everything is going along well, then I notice things begin to slack off, I will give the band a rest...and for me it will "Re-new" that place of where things were optimum for me...

I've also read here people do this to "kick Start" weight loss, perhaps to break a plateau...or maybe to return to square one as was the case right after surgery. and work back into mushies, then good solid food choices....

Whatever the outcome, I have found it to be beneficial for me.....

I'll keep this in mind. I just had a fill, and it was good for about a week. Now the signals have dimmed quite a bit....again.

I've seen some talk on here about the "5 day pouch test". Sounds similar, if not the same thing you're talking about.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
