It seems like the sticky rice might get stuck... and the way pills get stuck in me, I'm not going near sticky rice. But boy, it sounds great and think how cheap! One roll and I'm good for the day...

What does it feel like when something gets stuck?

I'm one month out from being sleeved and had two pieces of rainbow roll a couple days ago. It went down fine, but had to chew chew chew. Was full after two slices, can't wait to have again. Uni is my favorite....Sea butter....yum.

I guess the only thing that concerns me 5 weeks out is the rawness if the sushi. Most of it, at least most if what I used to get. I'm concerned about the chance of the fish having something wrong with it and having newly cut stomach put at risk. Otherwise I'd be eating salmon sashimi all of the time!

I was never really interested in sushi. I liked California rolls but that was as adventurous as I got. Until I went to California two weeks ago...

My son and his girl took me to their favorite sushi place and ordered twelve different kinds, along w/appetizers of soft-shell crab and calamari. I was leary but I tried almost all of it (I wouldn't try the one w/eel - it sort of creeped me out! Lol). Now I didn't eat a LOT but I tried a bite of almost everything - and it was delicious! I loved it. Especially the spicy ones. I am now officially a fan. We ate sushi three out of the six nights I was there. Also I was very surprised how good soft shelled crab was. :-)

I wonder if there are any places that have good sushi in RI...

@@junejune00 hi! I live in Beaumont. I got sleeved in November. I love sushi too but I haven't had it yet since surgery. I've only eat sashimi which is still really good to me. I know some people that eat rice with no problem but I'm trying to stay away from the carbs so I don't Pasta, rice, or bread. Good luck to ya! Where were you sleeved?

After surgery I became super sensitive to sweet/sugars. Went to eat sushi at 4 months out, I spit it out it was so sweet. Tried the sashimi it must have been soaked in sugar Water. Tried several more sushi places but it was all the same. They definitely add some sort of sugar to sushi. I wonder if it's industry wide? Few weeks later I went fishing and caught a small tuna. One the way home from the dock, I stopped at Sushi bar and ordered the tuna sashimi. At home I ate the tuna I caught followed by the restaurant bought sushi. I observed that the restaurant bought sushi had way to much sweetness to it. I feel I have been duped all these years by sushi bars. Thinking I was getting clean from the source food when now I suspect that some type of sugar is added before it gets to our table. Glad now I can make a wise choice about what to eat instead of the food industry deciding for me.

I had a gastric bypass. How many months after your surgery you had sushi? I love sushi and sashimi but moving forward I am going to just have sashimi.

Hello....I have been away for a while because I went back to work on May 12th..... I was actually sleeved at the Christus Bariatric Center in Beaumont Texas on the 14th of April. So far I have been able to eat mostly soft things...Sushi is amazing!!... Not sure what it is, but this goes down really easy and I can tolerate it very well. The the first time this past Thursday evening I actually ate the whole roll that was my limit but it was such a huge step forward for me... It actually took me about 45 minutes to eat the whole roll which was about the size of a gold dollar....rice and all!... I think it is extremely strange that I can tolerate this yet I cannot tolerate eggs at this point... And I can literally only eat about 2 to 3 teaspoons at one time. Other than that all seems really well at this point I'm glad I did this.... I feel so much better now than I did at the beginning, and i have lost a total of 48 pounds...Sushi anyone?

I'm excited to start eating sashimi but concerned about it this early on (2.5 months). I"d be afraid to risk the rare chance of contaminated raw fish this close in my healing process. I plan to be a sashimi maniac at some point, as seafood goes down so much better than chicken or beef and I seem to be craving seafood moreso anyway. But the chance of anything no being cooked just seems to early, if god forbid I got sick now I'd hate to do that to my new tummy.

I am 5 months out and have been eating sashimi for several months without problem. I am addicted to yellow tail!

Funny enough the "sushi" I have been eating are actually cooked rolls..I have the tempura chicken, fish, etc. Instead of raw ingredients, as I agree, I dont want to risk getting sick on anything right now.... But like I said sushi rolls go down much easier at this point, as does any type of fish for me,.... I can even tolerate small amounts of rice around the roll! Not to mention I crave it all the time, and its got good Protein.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
