LeighAnneF 98 Posted November 11, 2013 I am looking for some advice or guidance. I currently have insurance through my employer, but they have fully excluded any and all WLS. My husbands employer on the other hand covers WLS. His open enrollment is now and I checked the exclusions and pre existing conditions clauses and I pass both of those obstacles. I even called his insurance provider and verified the surgeons I have chosen (but have not had any appt's with yet) are in network. I want to make sure I have checked everything. Is there anything else I should check before I move forward with changing to his insurance. It costs so much more money than mine, but would be soooooo worth it. woo woo 872 Posted November 11, 2013 I am assuming you did the math to ensure that your added premiums aren't more than what you could get the procedure done for as a self-pay? Unlikely, but you seemed to indicate that they are really high so I just thought I would throw that out there.
LeighAnneF 98 Posted November 12, 2013 Thank you, yes. We did check that as well.
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 12, 2013 If the coverage is equal or better than I would say it's a no brainer! The next year do you have the option of going back to your work insurance or will it have to be a life altering event in order to do it? If you didn't check that out you might want to. LeighAnneF 98 Posted November 13, 2013 Yes, I did ask my hr that as well. at any open enrollment period, which is very March, I can re-enroll again. I think I have covered all my bases with his insurance. We are going for it. It's not in effect until January 1st, So that is what I am looking forward to. That is when I will really begin my journey hopefully.
