Any banded chefs or kitchen workers out there?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. My husband is a chef and he is considering getting the lapband (note: I have the band, I got it in Apr 06 and I'm very pleased with the results so far). He is wondering if anyone out there who is banded is in a similar circumstance (ie. works full-time in a kitchen & is therefore surrounded by food all day long!!).

If so, we would be curious to hear from you re. any special challenges/obstacles you may have faced. Was it (the curbing your eating and food choices etc) more difficult for you? Do you think working in a kitchen environment made the whole process harder or more challening to go through or did it not make a difference?

His inquiring mind would like to get your perspectives as he goes through the decision making process of "to band or not to band".

Thanks all; looking forward to hearing some feedback!!!

well i have been a chef for 20 years and yes i have lost 120 lbs. It can get hard standing up all day and eating over garbge pails, but you will get sick of throwing up becuase you eat to fast. If you have any further questions email me i have a spice line that keeps the food tasty and exciting. Also working on a chef lapband support group.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
