I found out this past Wednesday (11/6) that I've had a miscarriage. Next Wednesday (11/13/13), I will have a D&C... Anyone else have a m/c with lapband? How long after m/c did you get pregnant again? This isn't my first miscarriage but we've tried for 5 yrs and finally got pg again and really having a hard time with accepting it.

So very sorry to hear of your loss. I can't help with questions about miscarriages and the band but I did go through two miscarriages many years ago and I know how devastating it is to go through.

I know of many bandsters who became pregnant with the band and carried to term. I don't think there's any correlation, and certainly no data reflecting % of bandsters pregnancies resulted in m/c.

I'm sorry for you loss. Due to your history did you use progesterone? If not, talk to doc next time you conceive- every little bit helps.

Again, so sorry hon :(

This Doctor refused to test me for progesterone. I had to take it with my other pregnancies but this new dr said that there is not a correlation between low progesterone and miscarriages :( This is one reason I will be searching for another doctor as soon as I am cleared medically.

Yes! I would find a new doctor if he doesn't listen to your past history! I'm so sorry for your loss :(

I agree with hazel that I don't think your band would matter in terms of affecting a pregnancy or changing how soon you want to start trying. I always read trying as soon as possible was better in terms of fertility but you really need to do what is best for you mentally!

Good luck <3

I am so sorry for your loss :( I have had 6 M/C's in my past and each one were difficult to except. I am currently expecting baby # 3 and just with experience I believe trying as soon as your mentally ready is a good thing. I waited a cycle then started back right away. I only did that so I could date the pg properly and the HCG draws. I def would find a new Dr. I was with the fertility clinic for both DD and DS and this pg was a total shock.....No progesterone or IUI or clomid! All natural... :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
