Almost 3 Months Out.

Recommended Posts

So, I had my 2 month check up 2 and a half weeks ago, I have lost over 59lbs, and although my Dr. is pleased. I'm struggling to hit goals, like eating 3 meals a day is netting me less than 400 calories a day, Protein I try to get as much as I can, generally the minimum, but some days I can get in more, Water too, I constantly feel like I'm drinking, drinking, drinking.

My Dr. Told me I need to have 4-6 small meals a day and if anyone gave me and issues to tell them to call him. So since then I've tried to eat more, but I just feel bad, I don't want to get into the habit of eating so many meals but I know I need it. (Even though before surgery, I only ate 1x a day, which put me in starvation mode) I exercise, but not nearly as much as I want simply because I've had a rough couple of months, personally, emotionally and mentally. And usually in the past I'd eat to comfort myself, but I don't even want to eat most times. I've completely switched and don't want to comfort myself with my old vices.

I am happy with my weight loss but I don't see it, except when I wear certain clothes, they are practically falling off. But I still feel like that fat girl I was before surgery. I never anticipated the mental and emotional part of the surgery. I knew about the lifestyle changes that I'd have to make and I have, since being cleared I have only had bread once and took 2 bites of it..Which I am scared of lol. I've had Pasta, but usually only a few bites. I'm ok with the bariatric pasta, WonderSlim is pretty good, I can't eat a full serving, except on one occasion but it was all kinds of bad because I was trying to get in my calories but I figured I'd just not push it.

It's crazy some days I can eat ok and others I'm pushing myself to eat the minimum. I'm grateful for my sleeve and know that I'll do good with it, I just need to get my needs in and try to get more exercise in. Personally I hope by my 6 month check up I would like to be down 100lbs, and I'm well on my way. Anyways, thought I'd share and check in!

you are doing great

wonderful weight loss

frequently people can't "see" their weight loss in the mirror

the only way they see their success is by the change in how your clothes fit

but - trust me, other people are noticing how great you are looking, better and better each day :)

doc is pleased with your results, thats great!!!!

hang in with the program

eat what and how much you are supposed to

continue to drink as much as possible

glad you shared :)

good luck

keep up the great job

kathy

congrats

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
