ReDbEaN 654 Posted November 9, 2013 I have a rather delicate question for you ladies. I have been on antibiotics twice since I was sleeved and both times I got a yeast infection. I have only had maybe 2 in my whole life (when I was pregnant) other than that, NEVER have i had these before, my gyn made me come in to verify it b/c I don't get them and honestly it freaked me out cuz I had NO clue what it was. Is this just coincidence or has anyone else had this issue?
DestinClair1983 72 Posted November 9, 2013 Being on antibiotics increase your chance of getting a yeast infection because the antibiotic doesn't differentiate between the good and bad bacteria in our system and kills both, giving yeast a much easier time to get out of control and overgrow. That was one of my fears of being on an antibiotic, because I know how common it happens, but thankfully it didn't.
Beach Lover 1,084 Posted November 9, 2013 What DestinClair1983 is saying is correct. Antibiotics are notorious for this happening! In addition if you are on birth control pills it messes with the effectiveness for that month as well.

I guess there is a first time for everything. Get an OTC that should take care of it. Nothing fun about them that's for sure!
