Apparently We All Kvetch The Same Way

Recommended Posts

Still learning my way around the new app I guess it hasn't fully sunk in that we see every type of surgery's posts. I've accidentally opened threads from other forums and I see the same dang arguments going on in those forums as ours! The same rants and fights and kvetching.

I just wasted tons of time reading a thread accusing every one on the board about being snobbish, and the vets thinking they have the answers, newbies who learn to make their own choices even if other day they are not workable in the long run, and I was like, WHO is she talking about??

Wrong forum. Lap band folks.

Sigh. And I thought we were special :P

Having had 2 of the 3 surgeries and at times been on 2 of the 3 boards I can affirm that....same stuff, different day, some of us are just nicer about it! (Err, usually)

A bird just told me we are supposed to have separation on the current threads between the two... So hopefully that will be fixed within the week? Until then? get the popcorn out and start clutching your pearls :P

If that's the case then what was the point in combining everything?

I thought we sleevers couldn't kvetch because of the lack of ghrelin.

To royally confuse us and start more cat fights!!! It's working great! Now I should take my RNY self out of the sleeve forum...but y'all are amusing me!

Some of us still have our sense of humor...and use it as often as possible to distract ourselves from our sagging skin and thinning hair.

And then it took me 15 minutes to find my own dang thread. Apparently just coz you start it doesn't mean you're subscribed to it

Poor Alex and team. I don't envy them this task. It's gone quite well, considering the scale of things.

Everything will get straightened out, and in the long term will be so much better. Think of the benefits of people just researching weight loss surgery. They can come to one place to learn about all their options available and hear personal experiences from people who have had the different types of surgeries all right here.

Oh no worries! Frankly with all the functionality they had to port over I think it's gone VERY well. They should be proud.

There sure is an uproar, huh? People want it fixed and they want it fixed NOW! I feel sorry for team having to deal with all of this. Usually with any new technology, there will be glitches.

I'm an avid "current thread" reader, so I'm sure I will be constantly posting in the wrong forum, lol!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
