I'm no doctor so I have no medical expertise whatsoever, but being as you're only two days post op I'd say any incision pain is pretty normal if not expected. This is particularly true around your port because not only is it the biggest incision but the port beneath it was stitched into the abdominal wall. Anytime you injure muscle or cut flesh, it's going to hurt. I really wouldn't worry about a port flip.

Try a heating pad, it might help relieve whatever pain the the meds don't.

Hang in there, it will get better quickly :)

Hi there, hope you're doing a little better each day. I'm wearing my loosest clothing and making sure the waistband is not on one of the incision sites. I have been using a heating pad here and there but I also used ice packs one evening. And yesterday when I woke up day three my belly was much less distended -- still fat, LOL, but not full and tight from the surgery. I know all the walking is really helping me heal. Good luck -- let us know how you are today!

I am 4 weeks post and the pain at my incision was still there up until now. Pain has gone. So it's totally normal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
