russianpenny 1 Posted November 6, 2013 Started running and I have gained 3 pounds. I am trying to not get discouraged but after 3 weeks I am back down the 3 pounds but now stuck. Has anyone else had a plateau and how do you break it?? I journalize what I eat and usually stay in the 800 to 1000 calories a day. I also run about 8 to 10 miles a week. Help? Does anyone have any ideas? I'm nervous that I won't get the last part of my weight off. Surgery was May 28 btw. Help!!!
TurnThePage 220 Posted November 6, 2013 You could be losing fat, but gaining a little weight from increased muscle. Or you just could be in a stall. Every body stalls and most people do so repeatedly during their loss. Just stick with your program and your body will sort things out. Good luck. 1 aroundhky reacted to this
Truckerchic 171 Posted November 6, 2013 By adding the extra burn you may need to up your calories a bit...great job though!
BBdoodle 483 Posted November 6, 2013 I usually run about 20-25 miles a week... you are probably burning anywhere between 400-600 calories per hour so you will have to up your calorie intake. You also could be in a stall and sometimes they last a while. Your body goes into starvation mode if you don't get enough calories.
music1618 879 Posted November 6, 2013 Exercising and getting in proper nutrition can be a task. I weight train, run, and play soccer 3-4 nights a week. I only worry about my Protein intake. With this much activity calories are a mute point to me. I have reached goal weight and now working on adding muscle. Keep in mind every gram of protein is 4 calories. So I aim for 100 grams of protein - and right off the bat I am at 400 calories. Play around with your protein and calorie goals. The more active you are the more protein you need. Akcent 0 Posted November 26, 2013 According to me that exercises works are so good just for actual fitness of the body not for gaining weight. Exercises are so good for build the body muscles and reduce the extra body weight and fat. Brienshamp personal trainer

npark36 26 Posted November 26, 2013 I run about 20 miles a week as well, I had a stall for a few weeks. I used to eat about the same amount of calories. I noticed when I increased my calories a bit for a few days the stall broke and I started losing again. I also try to increase my Water intake on days that I run so when I do lose it isn't all water weight or I get dehydrated,
aroundhky 1,174 Posted November 26, 2013 Exercise can definitely slow down weight loss.......but not fat loss. That is if you are at a calorie deficit and still getting in enough Protein. You're retaining/gaining muscle and almost all of any weight loss is more than likely going to be fat.
