Going to the Movies

Recommended Posts

I am a popcorn addict and go to the movies several times a week. A friend who had the surgery recommended Gerber Graduates Puffs. They are a Cereal snack that has a little crunch to it but melts in your mouth, 150cal for the whole container, no fat, 1 gram sugar, are rice based with several flavors. I put them in a baggie and snack through the movie. I'm doing my pre-surgery diet now, just waiting for my date!!

Ooohh yeah i gave those to my son when he was little. Thats a great idea. And they have a bunch of flavors. Also Walmart has a brand thats even cheaper.

Probably little Protein, if any. I buy Snacks called 'CrunchO's' from Faunce Corner Nutrition in Dartmouth MA. They carry a variety of products that are recommended for bariatric patients, including Vitamins, Calcium, whey protein, and high protein foods and drinks. CrunchO's are shaped like cheerios but are the texture of captain crunch cereal. The come in Sour Cream & Onion and Barbeque flavors. Each individual single serve bag is 12gr of protein. They are delicious! I pay $1.75 per bag. I think Faunce Corner Nutrition might do mail order. Check out their website or try to find them at a nutrition store near you.

If you have trouble finding them locally, Amazon has Crunch O's - 4 bags for $5 and $5 shipping. Little more expensive that the nutrition store but I gotta give them a try. 12g of Protein in a snack is pretty awesome! http://www.amazon.com/Crunch-Os-Sour-Cream-Onion/dp/B005YVUE6A/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1389660287&sr=1-1&keywords=crunch+o%27s .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
