SO this is really hard to fathom, I always knew pre op that weight would be coming off fast in the initial period, but I didn't really think it would happen to me. My surgery was last thursday and in 2 days I lost 7 pounds. I understand the mechanics behind this, but wow!!! This is a little surreal!

Just seen my surgeon today for a two month follow-up (not quite 11/11/13) down 25 lbs. Starting weight in May was 218 in August it was 212, surgery day (9/11/13) 211. But the surgeon told me today that it is slower for people who don't have as much weight to lose. Doctors all want me at 160 and todays weight is 187, but I want 140. So we'll see how long this takes. As long as it comes off, and no problems, I'm happy.

I started at 214#. Had surgery in feb. and I'm at 132. You will lose. :)

Wow! You rock! All of you do! Thank you for the lower bmi perspective. I struggle to lose now (2 wks pre op) on a very restricted diet so I worry i won't lose. This is very inspirational. Thank you!

I started at 233lbs. I'm 5' tall so I looked like a weeble in my size 22's. Pre-op I lost 12lbs and was 221 on my surgery day, May 30, 2013. Today, just over five months later, I weigh 151.5 and am in a size 14P. I'm happy here - anything else I lose is just frosting on the cake. :-)

I love reading all these posts of fantastic losses. Very inspirational and gives me hope!

My body is not playing ball although Im doing everything as directed. I'm 2.5 weeks out and have lost 4lbs. (I lost 12lbs during my 2 weeks on pre-op diet) and Im beginning to wonder if I should've flagged surgery and just stayed on pre-op diet! Ok, not really ;-)

Congrats to all of you losing amazing amounts. I hope to soon join you. :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
