I tried a regular and it felt like it was burning my pouch so I have steered clear since. I can drink Diet Dr Pepper though with no issues and I don't buy the decaf... I guess I should switch to Decaf on that though. I was never a big coffee drinker anyway though.

I've been drinking Decaf for over two years now. Keurig K-cups are the best thing to hit coffee ever. The transition from caf to decaf was painless.

Over here' date=' we're not told to avoid coffee at all! In fact it's on our diet sheets :-)[/quote']

I am in the u.s. and was told caffeine was fine too. No soda but coffee is fine.

They told me no caffeinated coffee for first 6 months... Reason given was that it can cause it make dehydration worse. I don't have it every day but occasional I will have a coffee and I don't feel guilty!

I switch back and fourth depending on if I need a buzz or not. Haha I must say, the K-cup Decaf coffee is delicious! No difference in taste at all.

I drink a cup of regular every morning. That is the only caffeine I do.

I switched to Decaf prior to surgery, actually because of other medical problems caused by caffinated coffee (irregular heart beats). I actually have a Kurig and use K-cups with my own decaf (too cheap to buy the pods), but also add vanilla Protein or chocolate protein to start my day with along with jump starting my metabolism. Once in awhile I'll get a decaf, non-fat venti latte at Starbucks, which has protein also, so MyFitnessPal tells me. Plus my pouch likes something warm the first thing in the morning. Doesn't care too much for something cold.

I too switched to Decaf before surgery. Took a long break from coffee after my surgery and juuust recently have I gone back to my daily cup of decaf coffee.

Keeps things going smoothly.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
