Hi, Please read the label before you eat the Clif Bar for what's in there. You find a lot of stuff you don't want that could possibly make you sick like the chocolate and the sugar. If you want to try a Protein Bar I suggest Quest Bars which are made with Stevia and most likely will not make you sick because Stevia is not sugar. Now I've been told by my Surgeon and Nutritionist not to eat Protein Bars but it's up to you what to do for yourself. I'm just giving you a suggestion of a bar that probably won't make you sick like most Protein bars would because of the sugar content.

Protein bars are very portable. I don't eat them often but I do keep some of my favorites in my car. If I'm out doing errands and get hungry I have a better alternative to junk food. It tides me over till I get home. Read the labels for low sugar, lower carb bars. Faunce Corner Nutrition in Dartmouth MA has some good options for bariatric patients. They also have hot chocolate mix w/12gr of protein (I bought a box for when it gets cold). Their products are available online. :-)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
