mskami77 295 Posted October 31, 2013 I had planned to have my tubes tied when I have my rny. My surgeon has a gynecologist that assists him in surgery. I went in for my gyn exam with the doctor and he recommended to have my tubes removed instead of tied I was ok with this because I know the benefits of removing the whole tube when you're high risk for ovarian cancer. Well when he did the sonogram to check for cyst and fibroids there was an oddly shaped cyst on my ovary. He told me he wants to look at it again in December. If he doesn't like the look of it then he's going to remove my tubes and the ovary. Well I got a call today that they found pre cancerous cells on my cervix. So it is very possible I may have a hysterectomy at the same time as my rny. I'm afraid that this will make my recovery really difficult. I've only had one other surgery and that was for ovarian cyst. I was 17 and it was an easy lap procedure. I'm kind if scared and just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this. Shannon Mcmanus 32 Posted October 31, 2013 I would rather have one big surgery/recover then two smaller ones... So I would deff do it all at once If I could!!! 1 mskami77 reacted to this
Chelle 59 Posted October 31, 2013 On 10/21 I had both the rny and my ovaries/tubes etc removed. I am so glad I did it at the same time. My surgeon did the rny first, then the gyn came in and did her part. My rny doc actually assisted the gyn- because he wanted to be fully aware of everything going on inside of me in case there were future issues. He didnt like that I was on the table for so long- about 5.5 hours- but I guess I had some scar tissue down by my ovaries that took a while. Anyway....day 10 of recovery. I think I have had more pain that the others I have read about, with an extra 4 incision cites. Actually only two sites have been really bad- the two biggest ones- and today is the first day I feel better that way. I have had a hard time telling whether the hot flashes and night sweats are from the surgical menopause, or from taking pain med. Perhaps a little of both. I meet with my gyn in a couple of weeks to talk about estrogen replacement (Im 40). Anyway, send me a message if you want to talk Chelle
