Hi

It can be hard to be on liquids, I have been on them for almost 2 weeks now, but I just keep thinking about the weight I will lose and I know it will be worth it in the end.

Hey Cindy! I will be banded by Dr. Oh on 4/3/07. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. I have been going thru all the work before hand...all the tests and appointments. I can't wait to hear how things go for you!

Hi Cindy,

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago. The first week you need to recover, there is lots of stomach swelling that you really do not want anything else other than liquids. broth with a little bit of fat free cream of chicken was heaven for me, that is what i craved. I started feeling dizzy and weak around day 3 so my doctor allowed me to have either fat free milk or soy milk ( fat free, sugar free). Do what you doctor tells you, if you start feeling weak call his office and ask you could add this or that, talk to them. You will be fine. Where is your surgery?

You wil do fine! Just think of the liquids pre-op as a jump start to your goal. LapbanderNC is right, afterwards, the liquids will be plenty. I didn't want anything at all, not even the liquids, for almost 3 days. I had to force myself just to get in that chicken broth :0)

I was at the class at St Francis on Feb 5th! I bet I saw you there! How exciting! I have been in contact with another patient of Dr. Oh's who I met in his waiting room on my first office visit. It is great to have support and to know others who are going thru the same thing!! Let me know how everything goes for you!!:D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
