curious37 3 Posted October 29, 2013 A coworker of mine just had a hysterectomy and they told her to take Gas-x a week before daily to help with the gas after surgery. Has anyone did this to help with the rny? I'm just curious if it will help with some of the gas pain. Please share thoughts and ideas.
B is starting the journey 2 Posted October 29, 2013 My understanding is the gas used for laparoscopic surgery is mostly intra abdominal not necessarily intestinal. The gas rises often to your shoulders that is one of the benefits of moving and walking it helps with passing gas that is in your GI tract and helps dissipate the gas. I was warned the gas can be bad though and preop they told our class it wouldn't help. I would check with your surgeon as always though.
TurnThePage 220 Posted October 30, 2013 Yes, the post op gas is the gas used to inflate your mid-section so the surgeon has room to work. This is different from intestinal gas. Gas-X may help, but walking, walking, walking is the best remedy. Good luck!
