How long before you had a 'drink'?

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking about having a drink at a ball I'm going to next weekend. I'll be four weeks post surgery too.

Has anyone tried to drink after 4 weeks? I'm having surgery on the Nov 26th and then our Christmas party is Dec.19th. So I'm curious if I can even have a small drink? My husband will be with me so I'm not worried about getting drunk' date=' just don't want to do any damage to my new tummy.[/quote']

I sipped my sister's light beer after it had flattened a bit and I'm six weeks out. Felt nothing but full.

So, like someone said above...I had way too much at a Halloween party this weekend. Was very warm and fuzzy off 1/2 a drink, but that faded quickly. I guess since it doesn't take much to feel the buzz it wears off quick too.

I tried my first drink 6 mo out... vanilla rum in flavored crystal light. Was so yummy. Got a little buzzed with no issues... Until the next day. I was on the potty all day. I don't "dump" until the next day when I eat something I'm not suppose to... And this did it for me too. Evidentially I can't handle the alcohol sugar.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
