tomato/tomato products...

How long if at all did you have to avoid Tomato or tomato products after surgery? How about fruit or veggies with skins or seeds? 8 long weeks for me and my program. I know everyones program is different depending on where you go.

Ask your nut. It really depends in the type of seed. I was told to peel and seed tomatoes until 6 months.I will be six months on the 29 th, and I still can't do fruit skins.

If you ask your NUT, let us know what the NUT says about tomatoes.

Tomatoes are highly acidic and I have never tolerated Tomato foods (soup, Pasta sauce) very well. I wonder if I will be able to tolerate them post op?!

Right now the thought of a creamy tomato Soup, made with coconut milk instead of milk, sounds good.

I was told 8 weeks before I could have any of the products in the original post, by the nutritionist. I was just wondering what others guidelines were. I have read others can't have bread for 6 months. I could have toast and crackers at 4 weeks post op. And to be honest it was the first solid thing I could consume that felt good in my pouch! Of coarse it was about a third of a piece of Sarah Lee multigrain with a thin layer of Peanut Butter (which I could have since day 3 after surgery)

I've not been told to avoid tomatoes, or any foods except for the potential dumping ones.

Tomatoes were not on the blacklist for me. I've had them since surgery (only the tiny salad kind) and had no problems, so far. I make them an occasional food. Not a huge fan anyways. As mentioned above, check with your Nut. Better safe, than sorry.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
