Surgery 9/11/13 I eat Wendy's chilli, chicken salad, tuna salad, sf puddings, yogurt, Protein drinks/shakes, moved to meatloaf, mashed potatoes, canned Water packed fruit, cottage cheese, soda crackers. These are basically the only foods that I don't have too many problems with. Have tried fish, didn't sit well, refried Beans were going down and then it became a problem. Actually, I'm still not hungry very much. I eat a little a couple of times a day, just because I'm suppose too. I would rather live on the Protein Shakes as I don't get a funny feeling or discomfort.

These are more like my safe foods but fave nonetheless.

-stuffed cabbage rolls (ground chicken only)

-eggplant paste

-FETA cheese with mini cucumbers, radish, green onions, occasionally mini tomatoes

-steamed cauliflower sprinkled with WW light cheese

-laughing cow wedges

-sugar/fat free raspberry preserves

-chicken vegetable medley Soup

I am sure there is more on my list that I am forgetting.

My safe foods (that I also enjoy)

Homemade turkey meatballs

Homemade chili w/beans

Spicy re-fried Beans

Spicy Hummus

Baked Beans

Pea Soup

Tilapia

Salmon

Greek yogurt

Cottage cheese w/low sugar fruit

Natural Peanut Butter w/lentil crackers

Broccoli w/cheddar

Ham and swiss lunchables (I only eat half the crackers)

Chowder - seafood, fish, or clam

I found a recipe for 'Buffalo Balls' - turkey meatballs w/blue cheese crumbles cooked in buffalo sauce. They sound awesome (I love spicy food). I'll be trying them tonite for the game. If they sit well it'll be my substitute for hot wings. :-)

Please share the buffalo balls they sound really good. I made a dish prior to surgery that was chicken, bell peppers, onion with blue cheese and buffalo sauce also very good but At this point in my journey, I do not eat the veggies.

Just be careful with the wing sauce...most wing sauce us hot sauce mixed with margarine...lol. I've just started using straight hot sauce.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
