Doing It 4 Them 84 Posted October 26, 2013 I had to pay $586 to surgeon. I'll have a hospital co pay of $17 a day. I'm not sure if I will have other costs.
TurnThePage 220 Posted October 26, 2013 Your surgeon's office will give you the total fees due over the life of your program. Ask them who to contact at the hospital for their estimate of your in-patient cost and about any additional lab fees. Cross check with your insurance company. Your insurance deductible should cover everything, except perhaps some small co-pays. I was able to pay 1/2 my $2500 deductible the day of surgery and spread the balance out over 6 months. Surgeon fees were covered by insurance, but I have a copay for each follow up visit with the surgeon. I've been reading other posts that indicate lab fees at 3, 6, 12 months and annually can run into a couple thousand dollars (depending where they are done) if you are not insured, so be sure to ask about those. Good luck!
wanttodelete 12 Posted October 26, 2013 I have to choose my insurance now but it didn't start until January so i can't see the doctor until January
pear425 32 Posted October 29, 2013 It's hard to get the right answer since we all have different insurances and doctors office with different fees. When I hasn't initial RNY in 2005 I paid $0. Nothing not a penny. Not even a co-pay! Now this time (new insurance and new surgeon) I have a $25 co-pay each appt. $1500 surgeon fee, $240 fee for pre-op and post op nutrition classes and $15 for each supervised weight loss weigh in. The safest thing you can do to be sure is call your surgeon directly. Ask for detailed breakdown for your records.
