surgery is November 5th

I smoked e-cigs occasionally but haven't had a real cigarette since June.. Just wondering if my pre-op test will clear me for surgery?

Also, I had a Caesar salad on my first night of liver shrink because I was on the road

What do you guys think..? Don't freak me out lol

Since you asked... There are lots of other, good foods available on the road, so no excuses. This is where you learn the importance of making good choices, each and every day. In the long run, if you screw up, you own up to it and then start fresh the next day. But pre-op is a stricter protocol. You really don't want to lose your chance to have the surgery because they find your liver encased in a huge amount of fat, or have your liver crack open when they move it to do the surgery. When you are tempted to eat something off program, think of how you would feel if you woke up in the recovery room and were told they couldn't do the surgery because your liver was not in good condition. That should help you stay focused.

The smoking is a similar situation. I don't know anything about e-cigs, but I know you don't want to risk complications in that operating room

You are so close to your dream, Steve. Just stay focused. You can do this! Take good care of yourself!

I haven't smoked a cig since April I do however vap call it my puffer vaporize nicotine as for the pre op my doc doesn't require u to do all that they say do to Protein Shakes n one small meal a day in whatever order u like just as long as u don't gain any weight u have to be sane weight or less than your first visit n weigh in so I wouldn't freak out over a salad that's not high in fat just calm down n start again tomrw

The salad is fine. Focus on each day one at a time. It is mine understanding the heavier your pre-op weight the more important your liver shrink. Don't know what your weight is but I don't need the diet bc my weight is 225.

My understanding is that they test for nicotine so - if your e-cig contains nicotine, they will likely pick it up.

Definitely depends on your doctor. I was not tested for nicotine. I was very upfront about the fact I used e-cigs to quit smoking tobacco. They asked what "dose" of nicotine I was using (6mg) and were okay with that.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
