Recommended Posts

That's 45lbs in your first month?! That's basically where I'm at now and I'm a little over 3 months out! That's crazy I think I'm not getting my Protein like I should' date=' I'm gonna try powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury and see what happens[/quote']

Yea I haven't been able to eat or drink shakes until noe and my energy is just starting to come back this week so maybe in a few week it will break and I'll start back losing

It is always a bad idea to compare your weight loss to anyone else's weight loss. The fact that your weight loss is different from mine (or anyone else's) means absolutely nothing. Everyone is different. There are simply too many variables.

Here's something that you may want to consider. Your weight loss journey can be an emotional roller coaster ride. Sometimes you are going to lose weight quickly. Sometimes more slowly. And sometimes not at all. If you start second guessing yourself every time there is a change, it's frustrating, it's self-defeating, it's exhausting, and it's pointless. But it does not have to be that way. IF you have a plan.

Here's the plan that worked (and continues to work) for me:

* Stay positive.

* Stay patient.

* Stay focused on following the protocol as closely to the letter as you possibly can.

* Maintain a food log.

So why is a plan so important? Because regardless of what your weight is doing, your plan is ALWAYS the same. You're losing weight quickly - follow your plan. You're losing slowly - follow your plan. You're not losing at all - follow your plan. No matter what is happening - follow your plan. It is so much easier, so much more effective, and so SO less stressful. No matter what you do, your body is going to find its own way in its own time. No matter how much you would like to, you can't rush it. There is no up side in trying to micro-manage it. You cannot control every twist and turn regardless of hard you try. So don't try.

Trust the process. Follow your plan. And the weight will take care of itself.

Relax a little. You're gonna love the new you!!

I was curious about how much weight people have lost 3 months post op from their SURGERY weight.... I've only lost 48lbs since surgery' date=' but 69 lbs all together. I feel like I'm not losing like I should.[/quote']

First off congrats on your loss this far, awesome job!

Second this is YOUR journey, although everyone has been given the same tool our bodies will not all do the same with it, so focuse on your path. This is not a race, would you have lost that 48lbs in 3 months without the surgery? You want to be healthy and make changes for life so be proud of yourself for how far you have come and how far you will go but most of all dont compare...best of luck too you!!

10 weeks and 60lbs. But I had an endoscopy today because I'm still not tolerating solids and they found that the hole leading out of my pouch was smaller than a pea. So I've been starving. :(

Omg, I hope you get better...

If I've learned anything, it's to not compare my loss to anyone else's. I have to trust my own journey, maintain a food log, exercise, and follow my doctor's recommendations.

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
